The Balisme is an elegant and comfortable sailor jumper. Its uniqueness comes from the fantasy stitches that adorn the upper bust and shoulders. These embossed stitches resemble a ship’s rigging and are in perfect kipping with the sailor-style of this design. The cut is straight and slopes down to the hips with set-in sleeves and a round scoop neck. The stripes on the body line up with the ones on the sleeves while contrast between the set of stripes and the slanted line of the fantasy stitches enhances the figure. The Balisme is knitted with Diam, a high quality superfine merino yarn made with the finest hairs from the sheep, which brings softness to the garment.

Go for a casual look with this jumper on top of canvas pants, jeans, or a pencil skirt. Thanks to its embossed stitches, the jumper is also suited for a more formal outfit.

How to knit this sweater?

The Balisme sailor jumper is knitted with 3.5mm needles. To knit it, you must know how to:

• Cast off and assemble

If you master these techniques, you may start this beautiful project. This design is not recommended for beginners. However, people with some knitting experience may try this pattern after practicing embossed stitches.

The knitting kit

You will find everything you need to knit the Balisme sweater in its knitting kit: merino yarns, knitting needles (otpional), a 24 karats finely gilded decorative heart-shaped charm, and a pattern with step-by-step instructions and annotated figures for sizes S, M, L, and XL. Care

The Diam yarn is a high quality 100% natural yarn. Take good care of your sailor jumper to keep it for longer. Spread out washes and use gentle washing products. Handwash your sweater or put it in a washer equipped with a handwash cycle. The water temperature must be constant and under 30°C. Do not rub your garment but apply repeated pressure to help the fibers absorb the washing products. Rinse with clear water but do not use softeners. Remove excess water without wringing or spin dry your sweater under 900 rpm. Air dry it on a flat surface in a well-ventilated space. Iron your garment on medium heat and use a press cloth preferably. Store your sweater on flat surface in an unconfined space and change its location regularly to prevent creasing.
