The Capsella Cardigan is an elegant and easy-to-wear model, distinguished by its fancy stitch connoting the mesh of a basket weave. It has a straight fit that falls to the hips, with set-in sleeves and a rounded neckline like a cardigan. The front is closed with a button placket. The Capsella Cardigan is knitted with a 100% natural wool composed of baby alpaca and silk (Royal Puno). This up-market yarn has beautiful silky highlights and a perfect fit. How to knit the cardigan?

The Capsella Cardigan is knitted with n°4 (6 US) needles. To knit it, you need to know the following knitting techniques:
    •    Knit knit and purl stitches
    •    Increase and decrease
    •    Managing the slipped stitches of the fancy stitch
    •    Bind off and assembly
If you know these techniques, you can tackle this project. The difficulty lies in managing the fancy stitch when increasing and decreasing. This is not a pattern for knitting beginners, having gained even a little experience.

The customization

You can choose the color of the wool from the Royal Puno colors, then select the size you want to knit. If necessary, consult the size guide to determine the best size.

The knitting kit

Everything you need to make the Capsella Cardigan is included in the kit: wool balls in the chosen color, mother-of-pearl buttons dyed in the color of the yarn, optional knitting needles, a 24 carat gold heart sequin to sew on the cardigan as a signature and the knitting pattern with step-by-step explanations for sizes S, M, L and XL. To make the cardigan, you will also need a few tools that you can find on our Haberdashery page, such as a pair of scissors, a tape measure, a stitch holder (optional) and a wool needle for the assembly.

Maintenance

Take care of your cardigan to keep it long. Hand wash or machine wash if it has a wool balance program. Washing and rinsing water should be at a constant temperature <30°C. Use little detergent and never softener. Do not rub your wool, but let it soak and apply successive pressures to make the detergent penetrate. Squeeze without wringing and dry flat in a good ventilated area. Generally speaking, it is advisable to space out the washing as much as possible. To get rid of a bad smell, air your cardigan for a few hours. Iron under the steam of the iron in the 2-point position; if necessary, use a damp cloth. Store flat in an unconfined area and change places regularly to remove any creases.
