Pure cotton yarn
Calliope is a 100% organic cotton knitting yarn, GOTS certified. It is made from a thin ribbon, which makes it particularly strong and gives it a perfect hold. This mercerised yarn has a beautiful silky sheen. It is light, pleasant to the touch and gives a perfectly designed stitch: fancy stitches and openwork stitches are enhanced by this yarn. Calliope is ideal for summer jumpers and cardigans, children's clothing and layette. This organic knitting cotton is also recommended for making grocery net bags and small bags.
How many balls do you need?
You will need 350 g of yarn (7 balls) to knit a size S or M women’s sweater. Add one extra ball for sizes L and XL. For layette, you will need 2 balls for a baby romper for a 3- to 6-months-old. To knit a bag or crochet a net, 2 to 4 balls should be enough depending on the desired size.
Knitting gauge
A 10 x 10 cm square of stocking stitches knitted with 3.5 mm needles corresponds to 25 stitches and 32 rows. Cast on at least 35 to 40 stitches and knit around 40 rows to knit a sample. Iron it then measure it outside the selvedge.
Care
The Calliope yarn is easy to care for. Wash it by hand with a 40°C water or in the washer on a cotton cycle. Rinse with clear water without using softeners. Leave to dry flat, ideally, and iron your garment on medium heat.
