Sailor jumper in knitting kit
The Merval Jumper is a real sailor's jumper, with perfect wearability and great comfort. It has a straight cut with set-in sleeves and a rounded neckline that rises slightly. It is knitted in Luxor, a very slightly hairy yarn due to the presence of alpaca, whose stitch is perfectly designed. Wear this jumper over canvas trousers, jeans or a pencil skirt. An ideal jumper for the mid-season. To be worn on cool summer days.
Easy to knit
The Merval Jumper is knitted with needles n°5 (8 US). To knit it, you need to know the basic knitting techniques:
• Knit knit and purl stitches
• Increase and decrease
• Pick up stitches
• Bind off and assembly
The knitting pattern is aimed at experienced knitters. A knitting beginner will need help with certain finishes, such as the neckline.
The Luxor yarn is available in several colors: midnight blue, natural, plum and mottled grey. Choose the color that suits you. Select your size. If you have any doubt, refer to our size guide to determine your size.
The knitting kit
Everything you need to make the Merval jumper is included in the kit: wool balls of Luxor in the chosen color, optional knitting needles, a small sewing heart and the knitting pattern with step-by-step explanations for sizes S to XL and dimensional drawings of each piece. If you want the knitting needles, check the number. To make this jumper, you will also need a pair of scissors, a tape measure, two stitch holders and a wool needle for the assembly. Refer to our Haberdashery page if you wish to buy these tools.
To keep your jumper for a long time, it is recommended to space out the washings and not to wear it several days in a row. Air it out for few hours to remove any bad smells and store it flat in an unconfined area. Hand wash or machine wash if it has a “wool” balance program and use little detergent. The water temperature should be constant for washing and rinsing and < 30°C. Do not use softener. Dry flat in a good ventilated area and program smooth out under the steam of the iron, in wool position.
