V-neck mohair jumper
The Bassia jumper is a classic V-neck design with a twist. Its original touch lies in the balloon sleeves knitted in a fancy stitch. The fancy stitch adds elegance and femininity to this jumper. It has a straight cut with set-in sleeves. The jumper is knitted in Top Hair, a pure wool made from kid mohair and silk that is particularly soft, puffy, warm and light.
Wear the Bassia jumper for all occasions, in dressy or casual mode, over jeans or high-waisted trousers, trousers with pleats, or a pencil skirt.
How do I knit the jumper?
The Bassia jumper is knitted with straight needles. To make it, you need to know the following techniques:
- Knit stitches forwards and backwards
- Knitting cable knits and overlocking
- Increasing and decreasing
- Pick up stitches
- Assembly
If you know these techniques, you can get started on this project. Knitting beginners who have already mastered stockinette can practise the fancy stitch. They will benefit from getting help to lift the stitches at the neckline.
The knitting kit
The kit contains everything you need to make the Bassia jumper: balls of Top Hair wool in the colour of your choice, optional n°4.5 knitting needles, a small 24-carat gold sewing heart to sign your work and the knitting pattern with step-by-step instructions for sizes S, M, L and XL.
To make this pattern, you'll also need a pair of scissors, a tape measure, a stitch stopper (optional) and a wool needle for assembly. Visit ourHaberdashery page to buy your tools.
Care
Top Hair is a top-of-the-range wool that needs a little care if it is to last a long time. Space your washes, use little detergent and never use fabric softener.
Wash your jumper by hand or in the washing machine if it has a wool cycle. The water temperature should be constant at all stages and <30°C. Don't rub the jumper, but press it one after the other. Rinse with clean water and spin without wringing. Machine spin at <60 rpm.
Dry flat in a ventilated area.
Mohair cannot be ironed.
Store flat and move regularly to avoid creasing.
