Brixen ready to knit sweater
Top down sweater
As the name suggests, the Brixen is a Jacquard-knit sweater knitted from the top down using circular needles and a pure alpaca wool that is undyed. The kit comes with balls of yarn, knitting needles (optional), a decorative heart-shaped golden charm, and a knitting pattern for all sizes between S to XL.
Ready-to-knit sweater with 100 % natural wool.
The piece on display is a size M and is 60 cm tall. It is knitted with natural coloured Heritage yarn for the base and a silver grey for the Jacquard stitches.
Circular needles sweater
The Brixen jumper is a casual design with a somewhat loose cut and a lovely Jacquard motif cutting trough the front, the sleeves, and the shoulders. This jumper is knitted with Heritage, a 100 % natural knitting yarn made up of undyed alpaca wool (the colours being the ones from the animals’ fleeces). It is knitted in the round, in one piece, from the top down, using circular needles. This piece has no seams. Wear the Brixen with jeans or pleated trousers for a slightly quirky yet dressy outift. Mix it up with the addition of a belt.
How to knit this sweater?
The Brixen jumper is knitted using 4,5 mm and 4 mm (for the neck) circular needles. You must know basic knitting techniques to make it:
• Knit in the round
• Increase and decrease stitches
• Knit Jacquard stitches
You can start this project if you know these techniques. Beginners with some knitting experience who wish to learn to knit in the round may also start this project.
Customisation
Make this jumper your own by choosing among the many colour combinations for the Jacquard stitches and the base. All the shades available are natural and warm. Then select the size you wish to knit in by referring to the size guide to determine it properly.
The knitting kit
Everything you need to knit the Brixen jumper is contained in its kit: balls of alpaca yarn in the colour of your choice, circular needles (optional), a decorative heart-shaped golden charm to finish off your piece with, and a knitting pattern with instructions for sizes S, M, L, and XL. You will also need a few extra tools to make this jumper such as a pair of scissors, a tape measure, and a yarn needle to put stitches on hold. You can purchase these tools on our online Haberdashery.
Care
The Heritage is a natural yarn that requires particular care to be kept in good conditions for a long time. Spread out washes as much as possible and use very little detergent. Simply air your sweater to rid it of bad smells. Wash your garment by hand or in the washer if it comes with cradle wash technology. Use a water at a constant temperature of no more than 30°C. Do not rub your knitted garment but press it repeatedly instead. Rinse with clear water without using softeners. Remove excess water without wringing and leave to dry in a ventilated location. When necessary, iron your garment on medium heat. Use a pressing cloth to remove the crease faster. Store away flat in an unconfined space and change it location regularly to prevent creases.
