Ready-to-knit cardigan
The Ada cardigan is a safe bet. This timeless design is an essential item in your wardrobe: you can wear it for any occasion, be it at the office or at home, out with friends or for a more formal event. The Ada cardigan is knitted with Royal Puno, a luxury yarn, made up of 60 % superfine alpaca wool (the best of alpaca wool due to its fineness) and 40 % silk. Its high-end components give it a delicate silkiness, well-defined stitches, and a perfect hold.
The Ada cardigan has a straight cut that slopes down to the hips with set-in sleeves and a round neck. It is closed with a set of mother-of-pearl buttons that match the colour of the yarn at the front. Wear this cardigan with a pair of jeans or shorts for a casual outfit, or with canvas trousers, a pencil or flowing skirt for a dressier look. The Ada cardigan is part of the Ada twinset along its sleeveless sweater counterpart. You can knit both pieces in the same colour or pick different colours for each.
How to knit this cardigan?
The Ada cardigan is knitted with 4 mm needles. A few basic knitting techniques are required to knit it:
- Knit and purl stitches
- Increase and decrease stitches
- Pick up stitches
- Make buttonholes
- Assemble
You can start this project if you know these knitting techniques. This design is not recommended for beginners but for anyone with a bit of knitting experience.
Customise your sweater
The Royal Puno comes in different pastel shades such as powder, natural, pearl grey, and some stronger colours such as cinnamon, and midnight blue. Choose the colour you like best then select the size you wish to knit. Refer to the size guide in necessary.
Contents of the knitting kit
The knitting kit comes with everything you need to knit the Ada cardigan: balls of Royal Puno yarn, a set 13 mm diameter mother-of-pearl buttons in the colour of your choice, knitting needles (optional), a heart-shaped charm, and a knitting pattern with instructions for sizes S, M, L, and XL. You will also need a few extra tools such as a pair of scissors, a tape measure, a stitch holder, and a yarn needle for the assembly. You can find all these tools on our Haberdashery page.
Care for your cardigan
Royal Puno is a high-quality yarn that requires some care for its preservation. Spread out washes and use gentle washing products for your cardigan. Air your garment regularly and after wearing it to rid it of any stubborn smells. Handwash your garment in 30°C or below water or in the washer on a wool setting if it has a cradle wash system. Rinse at the same temperature without any softeners. Remove excess water without wringing and leave to dry in a flat well-ventilated location. Iron your garment at low heat. You can also use a press cloth or a damp cloth as a separation between your garment and the soleplate of the iron. Store your cardigan away from dust in an unconfined space. Change its location regularly to prevent creases.
