Women's cardigan to knit
Knitted in Top Hair, a pure mohair wool and silk, the Stapelia waistcoat is a timeless cardigan with a touch of originality: a fancy stitch highlights the border of the fronts. The cut is straight, with slightly puffed sleeves and a rounded neckline.
It's a soft, fluffy garment that's easy to wear to complete your outfit, over jeans, canvas trousers, a skirt or even a dress.
How to knit a cardigan
The Stapelia waistcoat is knitted with n°4.5 needles. To knit it, you need to know a few knitting techniques:
- Knit knit and purl stitches
- Increase and decreaseDouble overcasting
- Pick up stitches
- Assembly
If you're familiar with these techniques, you can tackle this pattern. Knitting beginners with a little experience can practise the fancy stitch before starting. They will benefit from assistance during assembly, particularly for raising the stitches on the neckline.
Personalisation
Top Hair wool is available in a wide range of colours. Choose the one you want to knit. Then select the size, using the size guide if necessary.
The knitting kit
Everything you need to make the Stapelia Waistcoat is included in the kit: balls of wool, optional knitting needles, mother-of-pearl buttons dyed the same colour as the yarn, a small 24-carat gold sewing heart to sign your work and the knitting pattern with step-by-step instructions and dimensional diagrams for all sizes from S to XL.
To make this cardigan, you'll also need a few tools, like a pair of scissors, a tape measure, 1 stitch holder (optional) and 1 wool needle. Visit our haberdashery page to order your tools.
Care
Top Hair is a top-of-the-range wool that needs a little care if it is to last a long time. Space out your washes, use little washing powder and never use fabric softener.
Wash your jumper by hand or in the washing machine if it has a wool cycle. The water temperature should be constant at all stages from washing to rinsing and <30°C. Don't rub the cardigan, but press it one after the other. Rinse with clean water and spin without wringing. Machine spin at <60 rpm.
Dry flat in a ventilated area.
Mohair cannot be ironed.
Store flat in an uncluttered place and move regularly to avoid creasing.
