Women’s sweater design
The Kuopio jumper is an elegant and easy to wear piece. It has a straight, slightly loose cut with set-in sleeves and a round neck with a slight scoop. The bottom of the sweater is adorned with fantasy stitches, that echo the ones on the cuffs, neck, and shoulders. The jumper is knitted with Royal Puno, a super soft yarn, very pleasant to the touch, and made up of 60 % superfine alpaca wool and 40 % silk. The silk gives it a beautiful sheen and an impeccable draping. Wear this jumper with jeans for a casual vibe, or with a pencil skirt or canvas trousers for a more formal outfit.
How to knit the Kuopio sweater?
The Kuopio jumper is knitted with 4 mm needles. You must know the following techniques to knit it:
- Knit and purl stitches
- Cross two stitches together
- Pick up stitches
- Increase and decrease stitches
- Cast off and assemble
If you already master these techniques, you can start this project. Beginners with a little experience may need to practice crossing stitches together before starting. They may also require help with picking up stitches.

The knitting kit
The kit comes with everything you need to knit the Kuopio jumper: ball of Royal Puno yarn, 4 mm knitting needles (optional), a decorative heart-shaped charm for the finishing touch, and a knitting pattern with step-by-step instructions for sizes S to XL. If you do not need needles, click on “no needles”. You will also need a few basic tools to knit this piece: a pair of scissors, a tape measure, a stitch holder, and a yarn needle for the assembly. You can purchase your knitting supplies on our Haberdashery page if you are short on one of these tools.
Care for the sweater
To preserve your jumper for a long time, give it proper care. Spread out washes and use little washing products. If your garment smells, air it overnight to save you from having to wash it. Handwash your jumper or in a washer with a cradle wash cycle. Use a water that is no more than 30°C warm for the wash and the rinse. Do not rub your garment, instead apply gentle repeated pressure on it. Rinse with clear water without softeners. Remove excess water without wringing and leave to dry on a flat well-ventilated location. Iron your garment with the low heat setting. Store away from dust in a flat and unconfined location and move it around to prevent creasing.
